The Anti-Christ for Christian Creatives
How to Turn the Work You're Made for into the Work You're Paid for Without Sabotaging Both

Most strong, creative Christian husbands are providing in one life and praying for another.
They feel stuck between the work they’re made for and the work they’re paid for—and for some, they end up sabotaging both.
That’s Default—and it’s more than just anxiety or regret.
It’s the villain in my Amazon bestselling book.
It’s the Anti-Christ for Christian Creatives.
The Spirit of Self-Sabotage—the subtle voice that says:
“One or the other, but not both.”
But here’s the thing: Jesus never said you had to choose between the two.
In fact, this is what He said:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you as well.” — Matthew 6:33
Take it from me. I’m the guy who chose the work he got paid for over the work he was made for again and again—and sabotaged both countless times.
Built a six-figure gym then gave it away.
Moved from MI to AZ to go all-in on consulting, then went broke.
Moved back to MI, made a killing selling life insurance, then went broke again.
Flew to Scotland and became business partners with Dan S. Pena, then walked away from him and gave my life to Christ.
That’s when everything changed.
Sandwich Artist to Regional Manager in seventeen months.
Public speaking champion.
Professional football player at age thirty-four.
Amazon bestselling author.
Every stop along the way gave content for chapters, i.e. I turned the work I was paid for into the work I was made for.
Here’s how it works:
🔥 FAITH
Default doesn’t care if you believe in God—so long as you put Him second.
He’ll let you write, train, build, and perform—as long as you don’t surrender.
As long as you worship the gift and not the Giver.
Put God first. In word, in worship, in work.
That’s how you dethrone Default.
Reflection: Where have I prioritized outcomes over obedience?
Action Step: Give God the first fifteen-to-thirty minutes of your morning. Every single day. No agenda. Just presence.
🏋️ FITNESS
Your body is not your idol—but it is your instrument.
Default tells you to train for appearance. But God trains you for war.
The gym isn’t just a temple of transformation. It’s a lab for obedience.
The discipline of showing up in your body carries over to your calling.
Reflection: Am I stewarding my strength like a servant, or performing for approval?
Action Step: Move your body today. Not to look good—but to remind Default: you’re not soft.
💰 FINANCE
As a Christian husband, you don’t have the luxury to be a starving artist, sorry. You have a responsibility to provide.
Default will use your gift to bankrupt your family if you're not grounded.
Going “all in” on your dream without counting the cost is not brave—it’s reckless.
Provision is not the opposite of purpose.
It’s the soil that sustains it.
Reflection: Where have I spiritualized my irresponsibility?
Action Step: Look at your bank account. Pray over your next three purchases. Choose provision with purpose.
🏠 FAMILY
Default will trick you into saving the world while your marriage dies quietly in the background.
You are a husband, father, brother, son—before you are a writer, entrepreneur, or athlete.
God didn’t give you your family to distract you from your mission.
He gave you your family to prove you’re ready for it.
Reflection: Who in my house is paying the price for my ambition?
Action Step: Schedule intentional time with your spouse, child, or parent. Ask: “How can I serve you better?”
🎯 FOCUS
You cannot serve both your calling and your ego.
Default multiplies opportunities to divide your energy. The Anti-Christ of Creativity doesn’t need to stop you—just distract you, (Shiny Object Syndrome, anyone?)
He’ll whisper, “You can’t do both,” when you know you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Focus is warfare.
Clarity is rebellion against Default.
Reflection: What have I been chasing that God never told me to pursue?
Action Step: Kill one good thing today to make room for the right thing. Obedience is the subtraction of distractions.
🧾 TL;DR:
You don’t have to choose between the work you’re paid for and the work you’re made for.
But you do have to stop self-sabotage and living by Default.
If this guide hit home, then don’t keep it to yourself.
